Westminster Basketball: Hounds Academy Emerges Champion Among 32 Teams

Kathmandu, Nepal. The Westminster College (TWC) successfully concluded its Week of Welcome 3v3 Basketball Tournament, with Hounds Academy emerging as the champions. In the thrilling final held on Monday at the college premises in Kupandol, Hounds defeated Herald College to secure the coveted title.
A total of 42 colleges and academies had registered for the competition, out of which 32 teams were selected to participate. The tournament brought together 26 leading colleges from the Kathmandu Valley-including The British College, Herald College, Global College, St. Xavier’s College, Triton International College, Kanjirowa College, Trinity College, Prasadi Academy, NASA College, Orchid International College, and Kathmandu College of Central State-along with 6 prominent basketball academies such as Hounds, Downtown, Ballers, and Elite.
In an electrifying final, Hounds edged past Herald with a narrow 21–20 victory. The champions received a trophy, medals, certificates, and a cash prize of NPR 15,000, while the runners-up, Herald College, claimed a trophy, medals, certificates, and a cash prize of NPR 10,000.
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award went to Simon Gurung of Hounds Academy, who was honored with a trophy and a cash prize of NPR 3,000. The awards were handed over by Mr. Arun Lal Joshi, Head of College, and Mr. Subas Gauli, Events & Engagement Manager at Westminster.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Gauli expressed delight at the overwhelming participation in the very first edition of the tournament. He further assured that Westminster College is committed to making such events even more refined, competitive, and impactful in the years ahead.
